Woman Hacker Charged in L.A. for Hacking Selena Gomez’s Email
A lady from New Jersey has been accused of hacking into Selena Gomez's email account and sharing the material on the web.
Susan Atrach, aged 21, from Ridgefield Park, N.J., was accused on Thursday of 11 criminal counts, including five tallies of identity fraud and five checks of PC hacking. She may face up to nine years and eight months in jail if sentenced, as per the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.
As indicated by Deputy District Attorney Ben Forer of the Cyber Crime Division, Atrach purportedly hacked into accounts inherent to Gomez and a partner, from June 2015 through February 2016. Prosecutors assert she acquired “saved media,” and imparted it to her friends and posted it on the web.
Selena is already a victim of hacking in 2017, in which naked photographs of her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber were posted on her Instagram account by the hacker. It was not instantly clear if those photographs were the subject of the criminal accusations.
Atrach is assumed to be summoned in L.A. Supreme Court by Aug. 27. Forer, who is prosecuting the case still under investigation, is recommending $250,000 bail.
